A warm invitation for you to join a series of online Discovery Tables, hosted by Roy Searle and Simon Mattholie.

Over the course of six weeks we will have the opportunity to share together as leaders, recognising our calling to be people of hope and praying and encouraging one another. In a changing and fragmenting world, we find ourselves in an unfamiliar place which is triggering a great deal of anxiety and anger for lots of people. Recognising that we find ourselves in an unfamiliar place, which presents both challenges and opportunities, we will look at what it means to rediscover a hopeful imagination where we are being invited to move beyond tactics and methods to discover where God’s Spirit is at work in our communities. As God’s people asked in times past, “How do we sing the Lord song in a strange land?” Jeremiah’s response was a message that invited the exiles into a new way of imagining their lives. We too are being invited into the adventure of joining and journeying with Jesus in his redeeming and recreating of the world.

In the six weeks we will draw on the themes explored in the book, ‘Forming Communities of Hope in the Great Unravelling’ that Roy wrote with this friend and associate of The Commons, Alan Roxburgh. In each session we will embrace the Practices of Dwelling in the Word, reflect through an Examen, listening to one another, noticing God’s agency, helping in the discerning processes of leadership and encouraging each other to take small, faithful steps in forming and encouraging communities of hope.

We do not wish anyone to be excluded because of finances but we would ask each participant to prayerfully consider a donation of between £60 and £120? Details of how to give will be shared at a later date.

There will be a maximum of 10 participants, all of whom in this series of Discovery Tables are Baptist ministers here in the UK.
